The current street and sidewalk pavement is in poor condition and the corridor requires improvements to be up to date with current Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. Curb extensions are being incorporated into the improvements, as well as enhanced parking lot and driveway entrances along Main Street.
Scope of Work
The scope of work for this project will be done in two phases and includes the replacement of the street and sidewalk asphalt and pavement, repaving curbs, drainage improvements, signal upgrades, curb extensions, pavement markings and signage. Pedestrian bump outs, decorative crosswalk markings and bicycle storage are also being added along Main Street. The proposed improvements for this project will take place on East Main Street/Newark Christiana Road from Marrows Road to West Main Street – Elkton Road.
